Who’s Going in the Dunk Tank?

One of the best ways to get employees excited about registering for the company picnic is to do what some like to call a “pregame.” How awesome is it to have employees feel like the company picnic is their own little Super Bowl where everyone marks the date on their calendar and makes sure they are ready to take on the big day. Getting employees engaged with a sneak peek at the list of fun events can turn your picnic into the successful gathering you are looking for.

Our staff are always ready to help with ideas and tips on how to get your employees excited to sign up for the big day. Here are some of our more popular suggestions to ensure your staff is well informed about the fun that is in store for them at Liberty Lake.

  • Early announcements help. If you are planning a picnic in June, start announcing it in April. This way, employees can get the date on their calendars and work around the family vacations.
  • Establish deadlines for sign-ups and keep reminding employees of those deadlines.
  • Promote. Promote. Promote! Excitement is contagious.  Send regular emails; put fun notes in with pay stubs. Make up flyers and brochures and post them around the office and in break rooms. If you have a company newsletter, that’s another great place to promote the event.
  • Make it easy to register by tapping into online tools and apps that can send push notifications or add events to calendars.
  • Get your picnic to go viral!  Start a web page or social media page to help people follow the progress of the event. You can post updates about what time the president is going to be at the dunk tank or the pie-in-the-face contest.
  • Include staff in the planning fun – ask for suggestions on themes and activities.
  • Take recommendations on who goes in the dunk tank.
  • Ask for playlist suggestions for the day. Share those suggestions and take a poll for employees’ favorites.
  • Start talking about the company softball or volleyball game and get teams together.
  • Spark the competitive nature in your staff by having contests for sign-ups – the first 50 people get a free t-shirt.
  • Consider using this time to promote different staff and how they can get to know each other better during the picnic. Highlight departments and projects to help employees drum up conversations with each other.

When you are organized and excited, your employees will get excited too. Start the fun right from the start and get your staff ready for the big day.
